Legacy Planner’s Breakfast  – 4/10/2010

This was our first Legacy Planner’s Breakfast.    Attendees had breakfast with 6 speakers presenting information on topics related to survivorship planning.    Most attendees took advantage of the early bird ticket sales and we were able to donate the proceeds to help Family Eldercare of Austin.    Highlights of what we learned:

• Dealing with the property of a deceased loved one is a huge challenge facing many families today
• There are many options available for  selling property – become educated to what would be the right option for the estate
• What you need to know when hiring and working with an estate sales specialist

Speaker:  Mike O’Krent – Life Stories Alive (live stories videographer)

• “Not being able to afford it is not an excuse for not doing it.”   This was a great theme.   (With all the consumer products and software available, that excuse is not longer valid.)
• How to prepare to capture the life stories of your family member
• Technical tips to increase the quality of your product
• How to interview your family members effectively

• Market and Marketability affect insurance coverage
